Greenwich Peninsula
has one of the best public transport links in the capital. North
Greenwich Jubilee Line underground station connects the Peninsula
to central London in under 20 minutes and is just one stop away from
Canary Wharf and the Docklands Light Railway.
Designed by Will Alsop of Alsop and Störmer, the futuristic
station is capable of handling more than 22,000 passengers per hour
and has a platform that is longer than the Canary Wharf Tower is
high.
Directly above the underground station is a major new bus terminal,
designed by Sir Norman Foster, which handles 50 buses per hour.
The whole area is designed with an emphasis on walking, cycling
and the use of public transport over the car, thus contributing towards
a safe, calm, healthy environment for the benefit of all. |
